Review:

Wow! This was a really great book about the struggles of being a trans person. I really liked the main character. I thought he was very well developed, and the story was a fun one to tread. It was definitely a coming of age and a found family book which is not necessarily my favorite trope, but it did work for me in this context. One of the reasons I gave it five stars was because of how well the author wrote a trope I don’t necessarily love. I thought the relationships were a little dramatic, even for me. It felt very staged, but I absolutely loved who he ended up with anyway, so that was one of the only problems. I enjoyed how much information we got about the drama industry and all the statistics on trans actors. That is a topic I had never thought about, so I am glad this book put it in my mind. The writer does a great job describing August in a way that made him ver 3D. I could feel his feeling and tell how well his acting was. I am interested in reading this author's first book because I liked this one. This was a great book with interesting characters.
