Review:

This was an amazing book! I expected the ending, but I think that is one of those things where the basic plot has been used so many times in YA books that it is easier for me to predict that. I found it very interesting how they escaped from the books, and I was so sad that Petta was captured. I like her and Gale better, but I think Petta is one of her only friends, so she needs him. I really hope Madge got out of district 12 before all of that happened, and I also hope that the two girls from the woods are in district 13. I liked this book so much better than the first because of its rebellious side and its focus less on the games themselves. The game time has to be an all-time low because I think it only lasted like six days or something. It probably wasn’t very entertaining to watch, but who cares. I am very sad that Cinna is dead because the costumes were always fabulous. My predictions for the next book are: Madge is dead. It will take a while for Katniss to get back on her feet, but once she does, she will be the leader of the rebellion. I think something will happen to Gale; I’m not sure what. I also believe that there will be a very dramatic overthrowing and some sort of twist during the last book; lastly, I think that district 13 will not only be in great shape, but it will also have modern technology. I predict that one of the characters ends up being from there (my guess is Cinna). This was an excellent book, and I would recommend it.

Synopsis From Book:

Sparks are igniting. Flames are spreading. And the Capitol wants revenge. Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol—a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create. Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest that she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying. In Catching Fire, the second novel of the Hunger Games trilogy, Suzanne Collins continues the story of Katniss Everdeen, testing her more than ever before . . . and surprising readers at every turn.
