Review:

I actually really liked this book. I'm always a little skeptical of Disney retellings because, a lot of the time, they are very juvenile. But this Story ages up the characters and gives them more significant issues, which I appreciate. I really loved the way they twisted the Story so as not to pit women against each other. Unlike in the Little Mermaid movie, Ursula is the positive role model, while Tritan is the bad guy. Even Vanessa is a supportive character of Ariel. I think this really aged up the Story and changed it just enough that it gave a fresh twist to the classic Story.

Synopsis From Book:

Ariel del Mar is one of the most famous singers in the world. She and her sisters—together, known as the band Siren Seven—have been a pop culture phenomenon since they were kids. On stage, wearing her iconic red wig and sequined costumes, staring out at a sea of fans, is where she shines. Anyone would think she’s the girl who has everything.
