Review:

This was a charming book. I liked the efficiency that they ran their house and how bright the kids were. I am really surprised that this is based on a real family. My only pet peeve is- how does anyone plan to have six boys and six girls? I really loved the way it was written like it was from one of the children’s points of view. It is too bad that the dad died, but I saw it coming. The relationship between all the characters was adorable. The mom and dad were excellent and the type of parent I aspire to be. I noticed that some parts were very racist, although it was written in the forties; it made me uncomfortable. It is a really good book, and I am glad I read it!
