Review:

For some reason, I thought this book was about a woman, not a man. I think it was because it was written by a woman, so I just assumed. It is so much harder to write in your opposite gender; I give this author a lot of respect just because of that fact. I’m only on chapter 1 because I have to go to bed, but it seems pretty interesting so far. I am on chapter six, and he is hearing from the maid about the family he is staying with. I think it is so interesting the way she switches to someone else’s story. I really like it, and I am excited to see how many perspectives we hear. I realized that the main character is a boy who is 6 years old, which is very interesting because I did not get that from the way he talks. I think it was because of the old English, so I will have to get used to that. I also feel Ike Caroline, who is the one that disappeared, is going to come in somehow. I don’t think she would mention her so much without some reference. I am now on chapter 12. We are still hearing the story the maid is talking about, and it is very interesting. I think the way they treat the only black character (Heathcliff) is not great. They always talk about him being on a lower level than them and how he is a villain. What he does is not great, so I understand, but the only reason he acts like that is how white people talk about him. I am on volume 2, chapter 4, and it is such an interesting story. I wonder when the boy will grow up and get married because so far we are just hearing about Catherine’s story. I really like how it is a story inside of a story. I am seeing some similarities between this and some shows I have watched recently. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I am on volume 2, chapter 11. So we are now heading from Catherine jr., and she fell in love with her cousin. HER COUSIN!!! I really don’t like books that do that, I know it was a different time, but you are related. Also, it seems like an awful lot of a fuss just because of some old rivalry. Why is everyone so opposed to who you want to love (even if it is your cousin). This book has taken me a while to finish, and I think it will be the same for some of the other classics too. I think I will be finishing it tonight or tomorrow morning. I am so confused I thought the entire time the person telling the story was the maid my now it is Mr. Lockwood talking. I think I just need a rundown on the characters like what they do in the Shakespeare plays. This was definitely not my favorite book; I found it a little confusing. That may have been because I am a little too young to fully comprehend, and I think this is one of the books you just need to analyze in school. Overall not my favorite, mainly because I did not fully understand it.
