Review:

This was such a disappointing book. It had such an excellent cover and seemed like an interesting topic, but it was so bad. The only one I was more disappointed with than this was the Betrothed (I couldn't even finish that). This book was just dull. It really didn’t have any plot twists. The story moved too slow, and it was predictable. The characters had weird relationships, and I think they all had an odd obsession with a guy named Arthur. The love interest and her didn’t even get to get her in the end, and they were really just running away. There wasn’t even a cliffhanger to keep me interested. I really hope this author gets better at making them move along because they have a very interesting story in them. I think they would be better suited for nonfiction or historical fiction. Overall definitely not worth reading and a very disappointing read.

Trigger Warnings:
Animal death, homophobia, bullying/abuse, enslavement, and death

Synopsis From Book:

Eleanor Zarrin has been estranged from her wild family for years. When she flees boarding school after a horrifying incident, she goes to the only place she thinks is safe: the home she left behind. But when she gets there, she struggles to fit in with her monstrous relatives, who prowl the woods around the family estate and read fortunes in the guts of birds. Eleanor finds herself desperately trying to hold the family together — in order to save them all, Eleanor must learn to embrace her family of monsters and tame the darkness inside her. Exquisitely terrifying, beautiful, and strange, this fierce gothic fantasy will sink its teeth into you and never let go.
