Review:

This was really good! I liked the depth in Kaz's character, and I even liked his relationship with Inej, which I thought I would hate. It is a little strange that in the show, these stories overlap, but in the books, there are only mere mentions of each other. I actually liked the multiple perspectives, which I usually don’t like. She did a great job at flowing the story and following the plot. I didn’t love the beginning. I feel like it was a little slow and did not hook you right away. This author seems to have trouble with openings, so you just have to get through them to get to the good stuff. Because I watched the show before the books, I can only picture the characters in the way they were in the show. It is a little disappointing that this happened, but I think they were cast very well for the film. I am interested in seeing where she takes this in the next book and the third series, but I think I will like those too. I feel like the world is so cool that I don’t even need to necessarily like the characters to be a good book. I can’t wait to read the next one, and I think this was slightly better than the first shadow and bone book but not as good as the second one.
